Welcome to the professional journey of Michael Bazaley, a seasoned psychologist with a rich background in both academic achievement and extensive clinical experience. I hold a Science degree in Psychology from Newcastle University, furthering my education with a Post Graduate Diploma in Psychology from Sydney University, and culminating in a master’s degree in Mental Health from the University of New South Wales.
My career as a psychologist commenced in 1999 at the Junee Correctional Facility, providing me with valuable experience in diverse clinical settings. In 2002, I transitioned to Long Bay Hospital within NSW Corrections, where I dedicated myself to delivering clinical and forensic services. Subsequently, in 2008, I took on the role of Manager for Allied Health Services at Justice Health Forensic Hospital. In this capacity, I oversaw Allied Health staffing and played a pivotal role in developing psychological services and programs.
Driven by a desire to contribute to my community, I returned to my hometown of Newcastle in 2012, establishing my private practice. This move allowed me to focus on providing personalized and compassionate care to individuals seeking support for various mental health challenges.
My professional interests lie in working with individuals who have experienced emotion mood disorders, traumatic experiences, the grip of addiction, and a spectrum of mental health disorders. I bring a wealth of knowledge and expertise to assist clients in navigating their unique journeys towards healing and well-being.
As a dedicated professional, I maintain active memberships in key organizations:
- AHPRA (Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency)
- APS (Australian Psychological Society)
- EMDRAA (Associate Member of the Eye Movement and Desensitisation and Reprocessing Association of Australia)
These memberships underscore my commitment to upholding high standards of professional practice and staying abreast of the latest developments in the field. I look forward to the opportunity to support you on your path to mental health and resilience.
